Technology

hides™ owns and incorporates two patents on product innovations that are the driving forces behind our superior performance, quality and design. These features are unique, innovative, multifunctional and are not available in any other product within the category. To ensure maximum performance and additional safeguards, hides™ also incorporates several additional design enhancements to accentuate maximum performance and exceed our customers expectations.

We have selected DuPont™ microfiber, high buoyancy neoprene and surgical-grade rubber tubing as the key constructive elements of all hides™ products. DuPont™ microfiber offers the ideal combination of lightweight, elasticity, comfort, memory retention, ink adhesion, softness, multi-material lens cleaning ability, washability and overall durability required for our customers’ demanding applications. The high buoyancy neoprene, though not providing the superior lens cleaning characteristics of DuPont™ microfiber, does offer excellent floatation properties. The surgical-grade rubber tubing allows all hides™ models to snugly and securely fit a very wide array of eyewear styles.

The secret behind hides™ products is our patented (5,102,216) Double Roll Technology. The Double Roll Technology enhances the natural memory and elasticity characteristics of the DuPont™ microfiber resulting in an eyewear case/cleaner that quickly and effortlessly rolls back into shape after each use.

Patent 6,478,145B2 , (involving patent 5,102,216) also covers our exclusive Detachable Strap feature that enhances the overall multifunctionality of hides™ products.

The Impact Expansion Joint (IEJ) is an additional feature we have incorporated into models designed for extreme sports, high endurance activities, racing and bodily inversion activities. The IEJ acts like a shock absorber on a car and ensures additional security should a high impact situation occur. The DuPont™ microfiber, high buoyancy neoprene and the IEJ offers hides™ products dual expansion and recovery characteristics that are required for active applications.
